Get grounded in your body and bring out the best of who you are
There are many ways to benefit from receiving massage, from improved skin complexion and digestion, to overall sense of well-being. The following is an abbreviated list outlining the effects of massage on the different systems of the body.
Muscular System: relaxes and lengthens the muscles, helps prevent and relieve stiffness, stretches connective tissues and increase range of motion Nervous System: helps to balance the autonomic nervous system (the system that regulates all non-conscious activity in the body such as digestion, breathing, and heart rate), eases anxiety and depression, and helps relieve insomnia Circulatory System: stimulates circulation to increase delivery of oxygen and nutrients to cells, removes toxins and other waste products, and helps to lower blood pressure, Lymphatic/Immune System: reduces swelling and fluid retention, increases the number of pathogen-fighting cells in the body Digestive System: helps stimulate the digestive organs to eliminate waste, relaxes abdominal walls when tense or spastic, reduces nausea Integumentary (Skin) System: re-moisturizes and softens dry skin, improves skin's colour and tone, encourages cell regeneration Respiratory System: helps relieve congestion in your lungs, fosters the absorption of oxygen into the body, reduces respiration rate due to enhanced relaxation
Some other benefits of massage include: -increases body-mind connection and promotes a sense of whole-being -improves ability to monitor and regulate stress -reduces mental stress -promotes more restful sleep and improves sleep patterns -helps improve concentration -promotes positive self-image and body awareness -improves mobility and flexibility -helps speed recovery from illness or injury -reduces mental and physical fatigue -improves postural alignment
